Windows 8 first thoughts
As I am downloading Windows 8, I’m thinking about the keynote I listened to earlier today. The keynote itself was for the most part good(minus some awkward moments) but I need to say that I was really impressed with the approach of Microsoft with Windows 8.
It feels like Microsoft finally wants to deliver a product for both normal(Metro UI) and power users(Improved Explorer.exe). The new metro UI not only seems intuitive but will give Microsoft an edge over Apple and their new Lauchpad approach to apps.
The addition of an app store is perfect for everyday users and the fact that Microsoft will include legacy applications in this app store will give them another boost against Apple and their own Desktop app store.
I still have to give Windows 8 a test run but as an Apple fanboy, I must say that for the first time in years Microsoft was able to get my attention!
